Canacona: Renowned journalist Ajit Painginkar emphasised the importance of cultivating a reading habit among students, urging them to read books that support personal growth and lifelong learning. He was addressing the parents’ felicitation function during the Sangam Festival at Shree Mallikarjuna & Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona.
Painginkar highlighted the decline in moral values and emotional connection among today’s youth, advising parents to guide their children on the responsible use of mobile phones. He lauded the college’s initiative of honouring parents whose children have excelled in academics, sports, and other fields, contributing to the institution’s reputation.
The event was attended by dignitaries including President Chetan Desai, Principal Dr Sucheta Naik, and Parent-Teacher Association representatives. Students and parents were felicitated for their achievements, while Principal Dr Naik welcomed attendees, and a report on the Parent-Teacher Association’s work was presented by Tanuja Phaldesai.
The Sangam Festival, which aims to unite parents, students, teachers, and administrators, also featured a special market day and various activities over two days. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Datta Komarpant.
