Tech incubator FiiRe open at Don Bosco College

Forum for Innovation Incubation Research and Entrepreneurship (FiiRe), a campus-based technology incubator was inaugurated at Don Bosco College in Panaji on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Salesian presence in Panaji. The director of Don Bosco College of Engineering and FiiRe, Fr Kinley D’Cruz, emphasised the need for innovators to help improve things and add value to life.  D S Prashant, CEO of FiiRe informed about the success of FiiRe at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda and explained how more than 35 start-ups were incubated there. “Some of these focus on reducing temperature, while others work on innovations in the field of education or some ship-building aspect,” said Prashant.  

Jose Noronha, chairman of Goa Public Service Commission, and chairman, Goa State Innovation Council explained how an incubator prematurely handles ideas and why listening to young people’s ideas is important. After the ceremonial watering of a plant, the two new start-ups signed their contracts and were offered financial support to develop their ideas further.  

Jose Noronha, Rector Fr Avin Carvalho, vice-provincial Fr Clive Telles, Don Bosco College Panaji director Fr Joaquim Lobo, principal, Dr Cedric Silveira, Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda rector Fr Paul D’Souza, director Fr Kinley D’Cruz and the principal, Dr Neena Panandikar were present on the occasion.
