Margao: A Basic Nursing Course aimed at equipping women with essential healthcare skills was successfully conducted at the South Goa Collectorate, Mathany Saldanha Complex, in Margao. The initiative was organised by Oorja Training and Research Academy in collaboration with the Goa Livelihoods Forum and the Rural Development Agency (RDA), Government of Goa. A total of 23 women from South Goa were selected for the course, which includes both theoretical learning and hands-on practical training at hospitals and nursing centres. This initiative is designed to empower women with the necessary skills to provide healthcare support at the village level. The event was attended by CA Vibhor Keni, General Secretary and Treasurer of Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB), as the Chief Guest, along with Dr Milind Desai as the Guest of Honour. Dr Desai extended full support for practical training by offering access to his hospital and medical experts. LUB has also contributed by providing entrepreneurial training opportunities, further strengthening the prospects of these women in the healthcare sector. The efforts of Dr Sneha Bhagwat and Asha Vernekar, along with the RDA department, were highly appreciated for leading this initiative. Additionally, organisers announced plans to launch a Maternity Therapist Course in the near future, further enhancing opportunities in the sector.
