Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai has on Wednesday given a call to the people of Goa and the voters to defeat the BJP candidates in the elections for the Zilla Panchayat to save Goa from destruction.
He told the media that there’s a need to defeat candidates fielded by the BJP to save Goa for posterity though the ensuing ZP elections are inconsequential in view of all types of violations in force and that the code of conduct is restricted only for the opposition candidates.
He appealed to the voters fighting against coal, track-doubling, Mhadei river, etc to ensure that they vote against the BJP candidates in order to save Goa.
“People who believe that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has sold Mhadei should come out and vote against the BJP candidates. We cannot wait to save Goa in the future. The time has come to save Goa by voting against the BJP candidates,” he asserted.
Sardesai said the regional outfit did not field any candidate on the party banner since it believes that these grass-roots bodies should not be politicized.
“The ZP elections did not interest me because my constituency is located in a municipal area. Secondly, I had told our MLAs and other leaders not to field candidates on the party banner since fighting elections on party lines would only politicize these institutions,” he added.
