Having already made known his desire to take control of Bardez, former minister Michael Lobo has now extended his reach by moving across the Mandovi River and campaigning for the Congress candidate in Taleigao.
On Tuesday, Lobo pitched for Congress candidate Tony Rodrigues at a news conference along with rebel BJP leader Dattaprasad Naik.
"Winds of change are seen in Goa. This change is in favour of Congress. I appeal to people of Goa to vote for Congress because if votes are split, the victory will be for the BJP,” said Lobo.
Lobo said Congress would win in all five constituencies in Tiswadi.
"The Taleigao seat is important so I left my campaign in Calangute and came to appeal to people to vote for the Congress,” said Lobo.
"I think Dattaprasad has taken a bold decision in his capacity to unconditionally support Tony Rodrigues,” said Lobo.
Lobo criticised the Monserrattes for unplanned development of Taleigao.
“The FAR should be kept at 150 and now, it has reached 250-300. There should be no more high-rise buildings in Taleigao,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lobo insisted there is no chance of him returning to the BJP.
"In my heart, BJP is gone and this is not BJP that we had joined. At that time, late Manohar Parrikar took everybody along,” he said.
While praising Michael Lobo, Dattaprasad Naik said Lobo could well become the chief minister or deputy chief minister if the Congress were to form the next government.
