The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has recommended the proposed Colva Residency redevelopment project to the Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) for CRZ clearance.

The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) had moved a proposal to GCZMA for CRZ clearance for its proposed redevelopment of Colva Residency through private investment.

Accordingly, the Expert members of GCZMA conducted the site inspection and observed that the existing structure is partly collapsed and that the GTDC has proposed to demolish it completely and redevelop it with a stilt floor, ground and first floor.

Interestingly, the expert committee noted that the structure is not shown in the survey plan of the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records and recommended that GTDC submit relevant documents showing the structure existed prior to 1991. They also recommended that the legalities of the structure be verified.

The GTDC thereafter submitted a revised plan with documents like land survey.

“The Authority after detailed discussion decided to approve and recommend the project proposal to the MoEF7CC for proposed redevelopment of Colva Residency through private investment mode for new building in High Tide Line 200-500 mts,” the authority said.

The proposal also includes the reconstruction of existing structures along with compound wall and temporary structures in the No Development Zone area.
