Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this year is a very special year for Goa due to the Exposition of Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier.
“St Xavier, popularly known as ‘Goencho Saib’, is a symbol of peace and cohesiveness. Held once in ten years, the Exposition, scheduled to take place in December, sends a message of peace and cohesiveness", he said.
He also remembered Saint Queen Ketevan of Georgia whose Holy Relics were taken to Georgia by the Minister of External Affairs.
APPOINTMENT LETTERS: Prime Minister distributed appointment orders to 1930 new Government recruits across various departments under Rozgar Mela and also handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries of various welfare schemes like Laadli Laxmi, Griha Aadhar and Dayanand Social Security Scheme and Kisan credit cards.
Projects worth Rs 1330 cr inaugurated
The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 1330 crores that include a boost to infrastructure in the education, sports, water treatment, waste management and tourism sectors.
He inaugurated the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa at Cuncolim.
He also dedicated the new campus of India’s first National Institute of Water sports. The institute will introduce 28 tailor-made courses aimed at fostering the development of water sports and water rescue activities catering to both the public and the Armed Forces.
A 100 TPD Integrated Waste Management Facility at Cacora was also inaugurated.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for Passenger Ropeway connecting Panaji and Reis Magos, which is to be built at the cost of Rs 225 cr and construction of a 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant in South Goa at an estimated cost of over Rs 400 cr.
