Making it mandatory for the private security agencies to register, the State government has warned to take penal as well as criminal action against those agencies found operating without Home Department consent.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Home Department has directed the private security agencies to register online on the portal www.psara.gov.in of the department.

“Any private security agency operating in the State of Goa without registration with the Home Department is a punishable offence with a fine of Rs 25,000 and imprisonment up to 1 year or both,” the department said.

The department has asked all the establishments to appoint security guards only through private security agencies who are having valid the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005 (PSARA) License from the government. The list of registered agencies would be available online.

Private security agencies are business establishments formed with the purpose of offering security services to businesses in various sectors, including banking, information technology, finance, industries, etc.
