The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall in Goa for the next four days due to the formation of a low-pressure area into the South-East and adjoining East-Central Arabian Sea off north Kerala-Karnataka coast even as several parts of the State including the capital city of Panaji experienced light to moderate rainfall on Sunday evening.

“Moisture incursion in the atmosphere over Goa is likely due to this system in the coming days. Light to moderate rainfall with isolated to fairly widespread spatial distribution is very likely over Goa from December 12 to 15,” senior scientist, Rahul Mohan said.

According to the weather report, light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also very likely at isolated places on December 12.

The skies may generally remain cloudy even as the capital city experienced rain on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea as squally weather with wind speeds of 40-45 km/h gusting to 55 km/h is very likely over the South-East and East-Central Arabian sea from December 12 to 15.

The IMD has also warned that the rainfall is likely to have an impact on the crops in the State.
