Offering a last and final opportunity to depositors who are yet to stake claim on their deposits, the Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank (MUCB) has requested the account holders/depositors to submit their claims before March 31.
The MUCB has also urged the locker holders to take custody of their valuables from the lockers within the same time period.
“In the interest of natural justice, one last and final opportunity is given to depositors to submit their claims, duly filled in the depositors claim form on or before March 31. The depositors claim form and details of how and where submission can be made as well as the documents to attach and procedure for verification of documents is given on bank website www. mapusaurbanbank.com,” said Anthony de Sa, Liquidator of the bank in a public notice.
The notice further said all locker holders were asked to surrender lockers and take custody of their valuables on or before August 15, 2020.
“Those who have not yet taken custody of their valuables are hereby given a final chance to do so, on or before March 31, failing which the bank shall not be responsible,” the liquidator said.
The MUCB has been under liquidation since April 16, 2020 and the process to settle depositors claim started soon thereafter.
The then liquidator had issued a public notice under Rule 28 (b) of the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Rules, 2002 on July 20, 2020 calling upon all account holders to submit their claims within two months.
Several claimants staked claim of their deposits and even got their refunds but some depositors have still not submitted their claims and therefore the fresh notice was issued giving them a final chance.
