A major fire broke out at a fast-food Chinese restaurant at Aquem Baixo village after the explosion of a loaded LPG cylinder.
The restaurant, located near Shantinagar, was engulfed by flames, causing property damage worth around Rs one lakh.
Fire officer Gill D’Souza informed that before the fire could spread to an adjacent vegetable shop and nearby commercial establishments, the duty crew responded immediately, worked efficiently, and extinguished the fire, preventing further damage.
He said an empty LPG cylinder was successfully removed from the premises by the duty crew, ensuring it posed no threat. The surrounding area was thoroughly checked, secured, and declared safe.
The mangled remains of the exploded LPG cylinder were seen outside the restaurant.
