During the ongoing assembly session, questions regarding gold smuggling, particularly at Dabolim Airport, was raised by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, wherein the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who is also Home Minister replied to the questions that were raised.

On reports of gold smuggling at Dabolim Airport, Sawant stated that there have been no reported cases of gold smuggling at Dabolim airport.

This response clarifies recent concerns about illegal activities at the airport, including a specific case involving three individuals who were allegedly in judicial custody.

Regarding a complaint filed by South Goa MP Capt Viriato Fernandes with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Goa, which allegedly involves a cabinet minister and their staff in gold smuggling, the Home Minister indicated that this matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Central Government. Therefore, the State Government is not directly involved in the investigation or actions taken in this case.

In terms of preventive measures, the Home Minister did not provide specific details on the actions taken by the State Government to combat gold smuggling.
