Politicos, law-enforcers also get the stick

If there's one space that people love to go and voice their outrage against bizarre acts and escapades of rowdy tourists in Goa, it's social media where Goans shed all scruples to vent their anger.
Whether it is the rash-driving tourists causing mayhem on the roads, the ones that adorn boorish behaviour at some of the tourist spots or the loads of lewd men violating the personal space of women at several of Goa's crowded beaches, there isn't a dearth of social media outrage not just against the erring tourists but also against Goa's law enforcement on Facebook, Instagram or other platforms.
Recently, one FB user who goes by the name, Sangram Mirajkar, had this to say on a tourist driving his rent-a-car dangerously on the wrong side along a national highway:
"Law is only for goan, tourist can do anything they want, the rate at which the Accidents r happening soon we will be forced not to step out coz as Mr bhivpachi garaj na said it already, roads r sold to tourists."
Another incident that attracted the anger of Goans in the social media space was the case of a Maharashtra-registered vehicle driving over the footbridge at Colva and on to the beach.
"All this is happening because, Goa has been promoted as a place, zahan khuch bi chalega," wrote Antonio Alvares on Facebook in a obvious critique of the Goa government for recklessly promoting the State as a tourist paradise.
Yet another stern reaction to the Colva incident was from Facebook user, Kevin Richard Jansen, who wrote:
"Why is it happening again and a again, locals need to toe the car into the sea and make headlines, then it will stop once and for all, MH vehicles and their owners think Goa is their back yard for every thing,Goans please stick together to get rid of this menace once and for all,it seems no one is safe walking, standing or driving, innocent Goans lives are being lost, but still the drama continues."
Yet another incident that evoked much interest on social media was the group of tourists riding rented bikes recklessly along the wrong side of the road and that too along the Atal Setu where two-wheelers are banned.
The video of the incident showed that at least two of these bikes dodged dangerously between oncoming traffic to avoid the cops.
"This is dangerous," screamed a user on Facebook to a post by a media handle which also posted the video online.
One common thread of the reactions to posts online which highlight such misadventures of tourists, is that the anger is not only directed at the perpetrators, but more vehemently at Goa's politicians and law enforcers.
