PANAJI:
Hours after the Sunburn organisers officially announced a new venue - Dhargalim, to host the electronic dance music festival, Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar opposed the move.
He stated that he would not allow the event in Dhargalim. "We do not want such events in Pernem. This is not part of our culture," he said suggesting it could be held at its previous venues in Candolim, Vagator or Mandrem instead of Pernem.
On Tuesday evening, Sunburn organisers took to Instagram to announce Dhargalim, Pernem, as the new venue for the festival scheduled from December 28-30. The venue is located near Ayush Ayurveda Hospital and the Mopa Link flyover bridge.
Ticket prices for the event start at Rs 3,500 per person, with the festival running from 2 pm to 10 pm each day. However, organisers have stated that the event is still subject to government approval.
Amid ongoing confusion over the venue, organisers have stated on a booking site that the event is subject to government permission. Several places at Quitol, Candolim, Camurlim, Varca, Verna, Chicalim, Vasco, Agonda and several places have voted against allowing this EDM.
