MAPUSA: In a swift response to a reported case of chain-snatching, the Calangute Police have arrested 27-year-old Vijay Harvalkar, a resident of Karmali Budruk, Valpoi.
The incident occurred on 1 January at around 4:10 am near the Inspiration Shack on Calangute-Baga beach.
According to the complaint filed by Sandeep Vernekar of Khobravado-Calangute, the accused allegedly snatched a gold chain worth approximately Rs 1.5 lakh from one of Vernekar’s customers before fleeing the scene.
Following an investigation led by PSI Vighnesh Naik, the accused was apprehended on Wednesday. The accused has been charged under Section 304(2) of the BNS 2023 Act. The investigation into the case is in progress.
