MAPUSA: Two florists related to each other were seriously injured after they were involved in a knife attack following a dispute over flower sales at Colvale.

Both Jang Bahadur (50) of Tivim and Devanand Mali (21) of Revora, both originally from Uttar Pradesh, are presently in GMC hospital at Bambolim. The incident took place at around 6 am along the Colvale-Chikhali junction on the national highway.

Bahadur had placed a garland of flowers in a vehicle repair garage at the spot, and Devanand Mali was there on a two-wheeler.

There was a dispute over the sale of the garlands, and Bahadur took out a knife and allegedly attacked Mali.

Mali then took the knife from Bahadur’s hand and inflicted knife wounds on Bahadur.  Locals and motorists along the highway alerted police about the incident. A Colvale police team later shifted them to Mapusa District Hospital, from where they were referred to GMC hospital. Both later filed counter police complaints against each other.

Accordingly, a case has been registered against Mali and Bahadur, and police are conducting further investigation under the guidance of Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar.
