Four parked cars suffered significant damage when a dry tree collapsed on them in the parking area near the W Goa hotel at Vagator on Monday evening. The incident occurred around 5.50 pm, causing extensive damage to the vehicles, particularly to their glass panels. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the occupants of the cars were not present at the time.
Upon receiving information, a team of firefighters from the Mapusa Fire Department, led by Suraj Shetgaonkar and supported by Vasudev Tate, Lavinder Salgaonkar, Pravin Pisurlekar, and Srinath Narse, promptly arrived at the scene. The team worked to clear the debris and assess the damage, estimating the total loss at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh. The tree, located within the premises of the hotel, is believed to have been dry and unstable, leading to its collapse.
