Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the Assembly that the Manohar International Airport at Mopa, which began domestic flights on January 5, 2023, and international flights on July 21, 2023, has welcomed a total of 87 chartered flights up to May 2024.
He was responding to a question raised by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, seeking data on the chartered flights arriving at the airports in Goa.
The chartered flight data for Manohar International Airport reveals that, from the United Kingdom, there were 15 flights in November 2023 carrying 3,778 passengers, 18 flights in December 2023 with 4,992 passengers, 18 flights in January 2024 transporting 5,117 passengers, 19 flights in February 2024 bringing in 4,531 passengers, and 14 flights in March 2024 with 2,681 passengers. In total, this amounts to 84 flights and 21,099 passengers from the UK.
From Uzbekistan, there was one flight in December 2023 carrying 62 passengers.
Data for chartered flights at Goa International Airport, Dabolim was not included in this update, as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation does not maintain these records. The airport is managed by the Airport Authority of India, which oversees its flight and passenger data.
10 taxi counters
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the House that there are 10 taxi/rental car counters at the Manohar International Airport at Mopa.
The taxi and rental counters currently in operation at the airport are: Goa Taxi App, GoaMiles, Taj India Tours, Mega Cabs, Jaymis Tour and Travels, Blue Cab Taxis, Kadamba (bus service), FrotaMiles Pvt. Ltd., New Age Mobility Pvt. Ltd. and GoiCar.
The Chief Minister was replying to a query by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, who sought details about the taxi and rental counters operating at the Mopa airport.
Sawant, however, did not disclose detailed information about each counter, including the operator names, vehicle registration numbers, and the amount of rent paid to the airport authority.
The names of the operators and the detailed vehicle information are considered confidential and cannot be disclosed publicly, the Chief Minister said. He said the commercial agreements, including the rent paid by each counter, are also confidential and not available for public release.
