OLD GOA: Incumbent Sao Mathias sarpanch Supriya Tari was ousted as sarpanch by 4-3 votes, on Friday, even as Tari protested over a wrong name being mentioned in the no-confidence motion. The no-confidence motion was moved by four panchas of the panchayat. However in the no-confidence motion, the sarpancha’s name was mentioned as Supriya Raju Tari.
The sarpanch pointed out that her name is Supriya Sitaram Tari and said the motion should not go ahead as the same has been moved against Supriya Raju Tari.
However, the no confidence motion was taken up in which Tari lost by 4-3 votes. Later, Tari informed that she would challenge the verdict of the no-confidence motion as the name was wrongly mentioned. When The Goan tried to contact BDO observer Jonu Naik to get clarity on the controversy over the name, the calls went unanswered.
