BMC honours award-winning filmmaker

Shivam Harmalkar being felicitated by Bicholim Municipal Council Chairperson Kundan Falari for his outstanding achievements in filmmaking and photography.

BICHOLIM: Bicholim Municipal Council Chairperson Kundan Falari honoured Shivam Harmalkar, a 22-year-old award-winning photographer and filmmaker, on Liberation Day. Shivam, from Bicholim, was a runner-up in a global competition in China, where his work is now exhibited at Shenzhen World Culture and Art Centre. His photography has also been showcased at venues like The Palm, Atlantis in Dubai, Boomer Gallery in London, and the Museum of Goa.

As a filmmaker, Shivam’s acclaimed film Saavat premiered at IFFI 2024 and was an Indian Panorama official selection. A two-time national and seven-time state-level short film competition winner, Shivam also educates aspiring photographers through workshops with the Photography Promotion Trust across India.

A graduate of Symbiosis International University, Shivam has twice been named Best Photographer (2021–2023). Rooted in Goa’s cultural heritage, he combines traditional themes with modern storytelling, continually pushing creative boundaries.
