PANAJI: The Panaji police on Tuesday issued summons to the Director of Casino Pride Ashok Wadi to appear before the investigating officer for questioning on December 20. The summons was issued in connection with an FIR alleging that Wadia and others allegedly confined and obstructed Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials during a search operation aboard the offshore casino vessel under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
The complaint, filed by Assistant Enforcement Officer Mahesh Kumar Choudhary, accused Wadia, Gopal Ramnath Naik and Arti Raja and other casino staff members of acting with common intent to threaten and verbally abuse the officials, confining them in a room and destroying evidence collected during the search proceedings.
The accused have been booked under IPC sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from performing their duty), 223 (disobedience of an order duly promulgated by a public servant), 224 (threat of injury to a public servant), 127 (wrongful confinement), and 238 (causing the disappearance of evidence of an offense), read with section 3(5) of the BNS Act.
