PANAJI: Dr R G Wiseman Pinto, former Professor of Pathology at Goa Medical College and Dean of Goa University, is among a dozen doctors selected as investigators for the global research project ‘Surgical Pathology and Sustainable Development’. He is the only Indian doctor on the team, after Anita Borges, another Indian pathologist, declined due to time constraints.
Dr Pinto, also president of the Asian Society of Cytopathology, will join the University of Bordeaux-led project to establish Surgical Pathology Laboratories aimed at reducing carbon footprints and combating global warming and biodiversity loss. The study involves centres in Belgium, Germany, the USA, UK, France, Tunisia, New Zealand, and India. The project focuses on sustainable practices in surgical pathology.
