In the biggest-ever drug bust in Goa, Crime Branch sleuths seized hydroponic weed worth Rs 11.67 crore and arrested a youth during a raid at Guirim.
The alleged drug peddler's identity has been kept under wraps.
"The accused was arrested from Guirim after a thorough investigation and a month of intelligence collection. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigation is underway," reads a statement issued by Superintendent of Police (CB) Rahul Gupta.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant congratulated the Crime Branch for the biggest haul stating it is a testament to the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in keeping Goa drug-free.
"The Goa government remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy on drugs. Strong action is being taken against drug traffickers, ensuring strict enforcement of the NDPS Act. We will continue to strengthen intelligence networks, enhance surveillance, and crack down on drug-related crimes to safeguard our youth and society," the CM further said in his social media post on Saturday night.
