Panaji: The Goa Medical College is expanding its capacity and introducing new avenues in healthcare education. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced a 100% increase in physiotherapy seats at GMC, doubling the intake from 10 to 20.
"This expansion reflects our commitment to strengthening healthcare education and empowering future healthcare professionals in Goa. With this increased capacity, more students can pursue their passion for physiotherapy and contribute to holistic patient care in the state," Rane said in a statement on X.
GMC is also planning to introduce new postgraduate courses in Oncology and Psychiatric Medicine, with applications to Goa University pending. Additionally, GMC aims to introduce a PG course in General Medicine to revive the tradition of family physicians.
GMC currently offers 29 postgraduate programs, including MD specializations, Master of Surgery courses, and diplomas in allied health sciences.
