The State government has notified the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services' State-level Committee under the Pashu Kalyan Samiti as an institutional initiative to improve the livestock healthcare system in the country.
The nine-member Committee, chaired by the Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, aims to upgrade and modernize health services provided by hospitals and associated outreach programs. The Committee will assist the local Animal Husbandry Department in planning, implementing and supervising Livestock Health Programmes within the administrative jurisdiction and will organize outreach services and health camps at facilities under the hospital's jurisdiction.
As per the notification, the Committee will also work to ensure transparency and accountability in the livestock healthcare system, generate local resources through user fees, service charges, donations, and other means, and use these resources to strengthen the livestock healthcare system. Furthermore, it will encourage community and representative participation in the decision-making process.
The Committee also comprises officials from PWD, Forests, Agriculture, WRD and municipality.
