After a week of yellow alert for pre-monsoon showers, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa has now issued a yellow alert for heat, warning of hot and humid conditions till April 8.

In its daily bulletin issued on Friday, the IMD stated that hot and humid weather is very likely in isolated pockets across both North and South districts. While light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected at isolated places today, Saturday, the overall forecast remains for mainly sunny weather with persistent hot and humid conditions.

The heat index (feels like) temperature, continues to remain higher than the recorded maximum. On Friday, while the maximum temperature stood at 35.2°C, the feel-like temperature hovered around 43 - 44°C. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain in the 35-36°C range over the next few days, with humidity levels close to 90 per cent.

The IMD also observed a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C, a trend that may persist in the coming days.
