Lifeguards rescue 24 beachgoers, including Russian mother-daughter duo

Lifeguards rescued a total of 24 beachgoers, including five foreign nationals, among them a Russian mother and her daughter. The rescues comprised 16 single rescues and four double rescues across various beaches.

Drishti Marine lifesavers responded quickly to emergencies. Notable rescues included a 58-year-old Chinese man pulled from a rip current at Candolim Beach and a 68-year-old American tourist at Morjim Beach, while at Arambol Beach, a 31-year-old Australian man was saved from a rip current.

The week also included four double rescues at Arambol, Mandrem, and Agonda beaches. Notably, lifesavers saved two men from Bengaluru at Arambol and assisted a couple at Mandrem.

Lifesavers provided first aid to a man bitten by an eel at Ashwem Beach and assisted a man who cut his foot on broken glass at Betalbatim Beach. They also traced and reunited four missing children with their families, including a four-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy from Calangute.

In an unrelated incident, a lifesaver at Calangute Beach apprehended a thief attempting to steal a mobile phone from a tourist's bag. The thief was turned over to the police.
