200-page chargesheet filed after 70 days of probe
BELAGAVI
Belagavi Police on Tuesday filed a 200-page charge sheet against Amirsuhail Shakilsab Sanadi (25), who has been accused of murdering ex-Goa MLA Lavoo Mamledar.
The charge sheet that was ready last week was filed at the Belagavi JMFC Court after 70 days of the incident.
Filed under Section 103 BNSS, the police have filed the case of murder against Sanadi, the auto driver from Belagavi who had assaulted Mamledar in February inside the lobby of a local hotel after which Mamledar had collapsed. After he was rushed to the District Hospital here, he was declared brought dead.
“According to the post-mortem report and other investigations, it has been declared as death due to heart attack due to stress, hence we have filed the case of murder in the charge sheet seeking prosecution,” DCP (L&O) Rohan Jagdish said.
After it was presented in the court today, the public prosecutor has sent it back to the Market Police station with a few minor corrections, sources said. Accordingly, charge sheet will be represented again in court on Wednesday.
It may be recalled that Mamledar on February 15 was heading to a lodge at Khade Bazaar, Belagavi when his car reportedly hit an auto rickshaw.
Irked by the incident the auto driver followed him and assaulted him in front of the hotel after which he collapsed in the lobby of the hotel. The hotel staff handed over the accused to the police immediately. The bail of the accused was rejected after which he was remanded to judicial custody and is lodged in the Central Prison at Hindalga near Belagavi.
