The government has partially fulfilled its promises by disbursing about Rs 28 crore under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) and separate funds for beneficiaries under the Griha Aadhar scheme.

On Thursday, June benefits were released to around 1.38 lakh DSSS beneficiaries and over 1.50 lakh Griha Aadhar beneficiaries, offering some relief to those reliant on these welfare schemes.

However, uncertainty looms over the July payouts. Government sources informed The Goan that the release of funds for July depends on further allocations. "If the funds are received before Ganesh Chaturthi, the disbursal of DSSS benefits for July will happen before the festival," the source said.

During the monsoon session of the legislative assembly, the pending disbursement of around Rs 9.5 crore under the Griha Aadhar scheme was raised. So also for the pending DSSS and Laadli Laxmi schemes.

Legislators across party lines demanded early disbursal of the pending payments, citing the dependence of beneficiaries and the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

While assurances have been given for the DSSS, officials from the Department of Women & Child Development were unavailable to confirm the status of applications and financial benefits for July.

The status of several Laadli Laxmi applications also remains unclear.
