In a development that has a stamp of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's authority despite the controversy which ensued when some of his Cabinet members objected to recruitments through the Goa Staff Selection Commission, the latter has notified some 230-odd clerical positions in various government departments and called for applications.
The GSSC has called for applications to 232 posts of lower division clerks (LDCs), recovery clerks and stenographers, which are Group C' positions in departments like Archives, Education, Higher Education, Technical Education, Prosecution and Legal Metrology.
The applications have to be filed in the online mode only as available on
the Commission’s website https://gssc.goa.gov.in latest by December 13.
The State government has amended the Goa Staff Selection Commission Act making it clear that no anticipated vacancies would be entertained by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
The government has notified the Goa Staff Selection Commission (Examinations, Selection of candidates to the sub-ordinate services/posts and Procedure for conduct of the business of the Commission) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2024, wherein the government has made skill test mandatory for all those post requiring skill qualification.
As per the amendment, the government has said that the departments should ensure that the vacancies to be intimated to the Commission should be clear vacancies and not include anticipated vacancies.
Further, those clearing the skill test would be entitled to answer the Computer Based Test (CBT). The Commission is authorized to decide how the Skill Test will be conducted.
“In respect of posts requiring skill test as essential qualification, the Commission shall either itself, or through any Department or any agency or a committee of such officers as may be constituted by it, conduct a skill test. The Commission may decide the sequence of conducting skill test and the decision of the Commission shall be final,” the notification stated.
“The candidates qualifying the skill test shall be recommended based on the merit decided by the CBT,” it said further.
Also, the Commission has been granted powers to direct the candidate, if required, to provide additional documents, failing which the applications would be rejected.
“The Commission may direct the candidate to upload such documents as may be required during online submission of application form. Non-submission of documents or submission of incorrect or false documents shall be a ground for rejection of application without any notice,” it said.
