A family from Shantinagar in Vasco has shot to fame after they made a huge replica of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya using thermocol and it will be kept on display on January 21.

Ramchandra Naik and his son have made a huge replica of Ram Mandir which is already the talk of the town and could be a star attraction of the port town after it is out on display.

"In the last few months, we have seen the entire country planning things for the great day of the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22. I thought that I should also do something in our ward,” Ramchandra Naik told reporters.

“I came up with the plan to make a replica of Ram Mandir using thermocol around two months ago but I could not do it alone and so, I spoke to my friend who sponsored the project.”

“I then took the help of my son who would help me in the evening and even skip school to complete this replica in a few days. Soon, a few more people joined me which boosted my morale and the replica is completed now.”

Naik said it took him around twelve days to complete the work. “We spent around five hours a day, mostly in the second half of the day after my son came from school. We initially kept this a secret because we did not want to tell anyone till the temple took shape. The cost of the entire replica using thermocol is around Rs 10,000," said Naik.

The replica will be kept in the ward on January 21 and various programmes like fancy dress on Ramayan Theme for children and Bhajan singing for women of the ward have also been planned. "We will have a rally and procession on January 22 in the entire ward, parts of Shantinagar, New Vaddem and go to Vasco around Damodar temple," said Naik.
