CANACONA:
Canacona police arrested the owner of one of the two seasonal tourism properties which went up in flames and claimed one life at Agonda in the wee hours of Wednesday.
SDPO Canacona and Dy SP Tikam Singh Verma informed an FIR was registered under Section 285, 304(a) of IPC and police had arrested one Shivling Chalwadi who is operating one seasonal tourism property on lease. Chalwadi was later released on bail.
The fire is believed to have originated from the beachside property operated by Shivling Chalwadi on lease from the land owner, where some repair and hut building works were reportedly underway till late Tuesday night.
DySP Verma further informed that the source of fire is still unclear, but added that a forensic team had collected samples from the site and further investigation is being carried out to find the source of fire.
Meanwhile, Canacona Fire Station Officer Dhiraj Desai informed that the two operators running both seasonal tourism properties on lease are yet to submit the list of goods destroyed in the fire.
“Both have been called to provide details of their losses on Friday, and only after, will the losses in the massive fire will be ascertained and estimated,” said Desai.
