A car rammed into three two-wheelers at Quepem on Sunday night, killing one person and seriously injuring another.
According to sources, the incident took place at about 10.45 pm when some from Deulamol were standing by the side of their two-wheelers after having dinner.
At that moment, a speeding car struck three two-wheelers and the two youths, before speeding away. Abdul Kader Badshah (26) died on the spot, while Sofian Sheikh (24) sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to GMC hospital at Bambolim.
The incident sparked outrage among locals, and a crowd rushed to the Quepem Police Station on Monday morning, demanding strict action against the car driver. Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and some Quepem councillors were also present.
Quepem Police have arrested the car driver, Rainbert Dias, in this connection. Police are also reported to have recovered 12.66 grams of ganja valued at Rs 12,000 from the car involved in the hit-and-run case at Quepem.
