MAPUSA:
In a tragic accident one worker lost his life and three others were injured in Assagao. The workers were employed by contractor Maijuddin Ali (46) from West Bengal, who was arrested following the incident.
The accident took place on January 11 when the four labourers were unloading granite sheets from a truck.
The workers, identified as Sekh Ismail (27), Shivdas Chaudhary (61), Ali Raja (41), and Sk Mir Hossein (28) were not provided with proper safety equipment or precautionary measures by Ali, the civil supervisor at the property.
As a result, four heavy granite sheets fell on the workers, causing severe injuries.
While Ismail, Chaudhary and Raja suffered serious injuries, Mir Hossein tragically succumbed to his injuries at the casualty ward of GMC, Bambolim. The other injured workers were immediately taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
A case has been registered at Anjuna Police Station under Sections 125(a)(b) and 106(1) of the BNS.
Maijuddin Ali, the supervisor, was arrested in connection with the incident due to his failure to ensure the safety of the workers.
