Responding to the disruption of 108 ambulance service at the Sanguem Primary Health Centre (PHC) due to the absence of a driver, authorities assigned a driver and restored the ambulance service on Monday.

A report in The Goan had highlighted that this essential ambulance service had been non-operational for the past month, significantly affecting public access to emergency healthcare. The prompt revival of the ambulance service was facilitated after Sanguem MLA Subhash Phal Dessai was made aware of the situation and the challenges residents faced in transferring patients to nearby hospitals.

In response, MLA Phal Dessai promptly contacted Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, who took immediate action to resolve the grievances reported by Sanguem’s residents.

Local Milton Fernandes thanked the government for its quick response but also requested that a new 108 ambulance be provided to Sanguem after voicing concerns over the condition of the currently assigned vehicle, which has become old.

The reinstatement of the ambulance service is a significant relief for people in Sanguem, as timely medical assistance is now accessible once again.
