Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will be the only speaker representing India in an international webinar organised to celebrate the 15th International Day of Non-violence and Mahatma Gandhi Day on October 2. The free webinar presented by Gandhi International Institute for Peace and Still & Moving Centre, Hawaii will be held on Gandhi Jayanti between 2-6 pm under a sister-state programme between Hawaii and Goa.
It is to be noted that these two tropical states share a special relationship of a sister-state which began after the Hawaii government signed a historic legal agreement with Goa in September 2018 to promote mutual trade, tourism, foreign investment, sport, technology, filmmaking and wellness sciences such as Ayurveda, yoga and Hawaiian Lomi.
Dr Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi from New York and Amb Anwarul Chowdhury, former under-secretary-general of the United Nations will be the keynote speakers. Pramod Sawant will be one of the featured international speakers. Sawant is the only speaker from India.
The other speakers are Dr Raj Kumar, president GIIP, Josh Green, Lt Governor, Hawaii and Major Rakesh Bharadwaj (Canada), Dr Krishna Reddy (California), Judigh Jenya (Mexico), Dr N Radhakrishnan, Dr Terry Shintani, Dr Andrea Malji, Renee Tillotson, Kumu Malia Helela, Dr Kahu Kaleo Patterson and Sooriya Kumar (all from Hawaii).
The event includes spiritual invocation, chanting mantra, music and dance. There would be performances by Sequoia Carr-Brown, Willow Chang, Zeny Ogrisseg, Tara Pandeya, Roger Sinha, Akari Ueoka.
