17 wagons derail in train accident near Dudhsagar

BELAGAVI

As many as 17 loaded wagons derailed in a major train mishap between Dudhsagar and Sonalim Railway Station, disrupting train services between Goa and Londa. A number of trains were either diverted, cancelled or short-terminated.

Accident Relief Trains from Vasco and Hubballi with 140-tonne cranes and other required materials were sent to the derailed site with the restoration team, and restoration works were taken up on war footing.

Senior officers led by SWR GM Arvind Srivastava, Addl GM K S Jain, and heads of departments are monitoring the situation closely.

Harsh Khare, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi, and other senior officers rushed to the derailed site to supervise restoration works.

A number of trains were either diverted, cancelled or short-terminated.

DIVERTED TRAINS: The Vasco-Tirupati/Hyderabad Weekly Express was diverted to run via Margao, Karwar, Hassan route. The Vasco-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express was diverted via Margao, Roha, Panvel, Kalyan and Pune. The Hazrat Nizamuddin-Vasco Express is being diverted via Pune, Kalyan, Panvel, Roha and Margao. The Pune-Ernakulam Jn Poorna Express was diverted via Panvel.

CANCELLED TRAINS: The Yesvantpur-Vasco and Vasco-Yesvantpur trains were cancelled.

SHORT TERMINATED/ORIGINATED TRAINS: The Shalimar-Vasco train was short-terminated at SSS Hubballi while the Vasco-Shalimar Express will originate from SSS Hubballi Station on August 11.
