PANAJI
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) Land Grab arrested Goa Congress social media chairperson Divya Kumar Khandarand and her accomplice Yogesh Magarage in connection with an alleged land fraud following a complaint filed by Felix Noronha, a resident of Anjuna.

Khandar, 44 from Mangueshi, Priol, and Magarage, 41, from Mardol, Ponda have been remanded to five days of police custody.

According to Special Investigation Team SP Rahul Gupta, both the accused along with other associates actively participated in forging documents related to properties bearing survey numbers 237/7 and 206/13 in Assagao village. They allegedly succeeded in transferring ownership rights in their name and further sold the properties to genuine and bonafide purchasers.

“They deprived the legal heirs of their rightful ownership over the said properties and cheated the complaint and her heirs,” he said.

House demolition case: PI reinstated

Ahead of Diwali, the Goa Police reinstated Police Inspector Prashal Desai, who was suspended for alleged dereliction of duties in handling the Assagao house demolition case in June 2024.

Police Inspector Desai along with two PSIs Nitin Naik and Sanket Pokhare were suspended in the controversial demolition case involving Pooja Sharma and other accomplices.

Ex-DGP Jaspal Singh’s role came under scrutiny after Desai alleged that the DGP pressurised him to assist Pooja Sharma in the Assagao house demolition on June 22. Singh was thereafter transferred to Delhi while Sharma managed to secure anticipatory bail after remaining absconding for several days.
