As many as 27,718 tenants and 11,068 house helps have been verified since January 2024, in one of the longest tenant verification drives carried out in North Goa at the backdrop of incidents involving outsiders.
Special camps have been set up at 14 key locations at Britona, Anjuna, Siolim, Panaji Market, Valpoi Market, Bodkewaddo in Calangute, Palyem in Mandrem, Bicholim Market, Dhargal in Pernem, Cumbarjua, Corlim, Old Goa, Voilem Bhat near Datta Mandir and Lourdes Convent School in Saligao, Sodiem-Siolim in Mapusa, the Airport Labour Colony and Patradevi in Mopa, IDC Tivim, Binani, Madel Tivim, Camurlim, Pirna, Colvale and near Grand Hyatt Bambolim.
“The intention behind these camps is to reach out to the maximum number of people, to ensure that there is 100 per cent police verification of tenants, labourers and house help. A close coordination is also being maintained with the market welfare associations to ensure that there is more active public and police co-operation in all high footfall areas of North District,” Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Akshat Kaushal said.
The district police are also contemplating weekly drives in new areas for more active public and police partnerships.
