Deputy Chairman of Exposition Secretariat Committee and Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira has said a two-hour extension in timings to venerate the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier would be provided from Sunday onwards, to cater to the huge number of devotees flocking to Old Goa during the final days of the Exposition.
“The church authorities have taken a decision that from Sunday onwards, there will now be an extension of two hours for the veneration, which will begin from 6 am and will continue till 7 pm. We will ensure that no one goes back without venerating the Sacred Relics,” Sequeira told the media.
There has been a surge in the number of devotees lining up to venerate the Sacred Relics since the past few days, as the Exposition reaches the final week before the concluding ceremony on January 5, 2025.
So far, the timings for the veneration had been from 7 am to 6 pm till January 4. There will be no veneration on January 5, the last day of the Exposition.
