The washed-away portion of the newly constructed road at Karkem Neturlim.
SANGUEM
Constructed some three months back, a portion of the two kilometres stretch of road proceeding to Bomad from Karkem ward in Netravali village has washed away thereby exposing the poor quality of the work undertaken by the contractor.
A villager Milind Sapre informed that the black topping of the road was done in May this year and in the very first monsoon, many stretches of road have washed away making it difficult for the villagers to use the road.
Sapre pointed out that despite the contractor being told to put underground pipes at two places, the contractor failed to pay heed to the villagers advice ultimately resulting in washing away of the newly constructed road.
Sapre informed that in monsoon, water flows from the mountains on the road and this caused damage. However, if underground pipes were to be laid, the damage would have been avoided, claimed Sapre.
He also informed that the work of black topping of the two kilometres stetch was done in a day and the villagers at that very time had doubted the quality of the work.
Incidentally, to have a proper road access in the village, Sapre himself had provided his land for the construction of the road as the forest department had objected construction of the road through forest property. However, even after having sacrificed land for the road, it is a pity that the villagers failed in getting proper motorable access, added Sapre.
