Calangute police arrested three women on charges of providing massage services without permission from authorities at Candolim beach.

On Sunday, a video of three women massaging some female tourists on the beach had gone viral on social media.

A team on patrol from the Tourist Police Unit on Monday located three women – Sunita Raju Lamani (36), Madhvi Dhan Singh Chauhan (38) and Sumitra Subhash Naik (36) – offering massage services on the beach.

The tourist police detained the three women and later handed them over to the Calangute police.

After interrogating the three suspects, the Calangute police submitted a report to the Tourism Department under Section 3 of the Goa Tourist Places Protection and Maintenance Act, 2001. These suspected women were fined Rs 25,000 each as per the law. But the three suspects refused to pay the fine.

Deputy Director of Tourism Department Kuldeep Arolkar then filed a complaint against the three women with the Calangute police.

Accordingly, the police registered a case under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) for running massage business without permission and arrested the three women.

Calangute police are conducting further investigation under the guidance of Inspector Paresh Naik.
