Drishti Marine lifesavers were on high alert during the extended Holi weekend, successfully reuniting four missing children with their families, administering first aid to an injured tourist, and conducting multiple rescues along Goa’s beaches.
At Calangute Beach, a seven-year-old boy from Karnataka was found by a tourist and handed over to lifesavers. Public announcements were made, leading to a reunion with his parents after following due protocol.
Similarly, at Baina Beach, a five-year-old child, separated from his uncle and aunt, was located by a lifesaver. A utility terrain vehicle was used for announcements, enabling his uncle to find him.
Arambol Beach saw two separate incidents of missing children. In the first, parents from Mumbai approached lifesavers for help, prompting a swift search operation that led to their child’s safe return. In another case, a boy from Delhi was found and reunited with his relatives, with the police duly informed.
Meanwhile, at Varca Beach, a 41-year-old woman from Ireland was stung by a stingray, causing intense pain. Lifesavers promptly administered first aid and ensured her safe return to her hotel.
Benaulim Beach witnessed a double rescue when two men, aged 27 and 30, from Haryana and Bengaluru, respectively, were caught in a rip current. Lifesavers Cleyton Vaz and Shrikant Velip quickly intervened with a rescue tube and jetski, successfully bringing both to shore.
At Palolem Beach, a 24-year-old man from Punjab sustained injuries while kayaking. He hurt his hand and leg while climbing a mid-sea rock and later sought first aid at the lifesaver tower.
In another incident on the same beach, a man from Mumbai slipped in a rocky area near the shore, injuring his right leg. He was also given medical assistance.
Baga Beach saw a near-drowning incident when a 24-year-old woman from Hyderabad drifted into deep waters while swimming. A Drishti Marine lifesaver responded swiftly on a jetski, rescuing her and bringing her back to shore safely.
