PERNEM
As part of preparations for the third wave of the Covid pandemic, Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte on Tuesday said the new Tuem hospital building would be equipped with 50 beds within two months.
Sopte was speaking after inspecting the new hospital premises in the presence of Covid Nodal Officer Gurudas Pilernkar, Pernem Health Officer Dr Vidhya Parab, Deputy Collector Ravishankar Nipanikar, Pernem Mamledar Anant Malik and other officials.
"The aim is to start the hospital within the next two months as we want to stay prepared for the third Covid wave. Facilities such as oxygen, doctors and other staff have been made available at the Pernem Covid care centre and a decline in Covid cases in the last few days is a positive sign.”
“If there any problems regarding this hospital, I will take up the matter with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant," said Sopte.
Meanwhile, 44 new Covid cases were detected in Pernem on Tuesday. The new cases were reported in Keri (3), Morjim (8), Paliem (1), Korgao (17), Parcem (1), Tuem (3), Mandrem (6), Arambol (2) and Pernem town (3).
