The 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), held in Goa from November 20 to 28, saw a 12% rise in delegate participation. This year, 11,332 delegates registered and attended the festival. Participants included representatives from 34 Indian States and Union Territories and international delegates from 28 countries.
The Film Bazaar also recorded a significant increase in attendance, with 1,876 delegates compared to 775 last year. Business proposals and partnerships worth over Rs 500 crore were submitted during the event. The festival screened 189 films, selected from 1,800 submissions.
The Tech Pavilion project attracted 15 industries, securing sponsorships worth Rs 15.36 crore. Films showcased at the festival included 16 world premieres, 3 international premieres, 44 Asia premieres, and 109 Indian premieres. The 81 participating countries used the platform to present their unique cultures, perspectives, and ideas through cinema.
The international competition section featured 15 films, while the UNESCO International Film, Television, and Audio-Visual Communication Conference saw 10 entries vying for the Gandhi Medal for the best debut storytelling film and the best directorial debut awards.
The Indian Panorama 2024 section showcased 25 feature films and 27 non-feature films, selected for addressing compelling topics and issues.
A jury of 12 members evaluated the feature films, while 6 jury members assessed the non-feature films. The festival also organised 30 events, including masterclasses, interactive sessions, and panel discussions.
