PANAJI:
A 70-year-old man ended his life by jumping into a well near his house at Dhave-Sattari on Thursday morning.
According to reports, Suryakant Gaonkar, a retired employee of the agriculture department, went missing since Wednesday morning, and his family made frantic efforts to search for him, but they could not locate him.
Finally, his slippers were found outside a nearby well and there was a suspicion that he may have fallen into the well.
A fire brigade from the Valpoi fire station went to the site and retrieved the body of Gaonkar.
Valpoi police later sent the body for an autopsy at the Goa Medical College and further investigation is underway under the guidance of Police Inspector Rahul Naik.
