Porvorim police have arrested the seventh accused in connection with the dacoity case at Marra–Pilerne in the early hours of March 17.
Mithilesh Indradev Yadav (24), a native of Bangalore but residing at Camurlim-Bardez, was nabbed in Bangalore and brought back to Goa, where he was placed under arrest. A Mapusa court remanded the accused to five days in police custody.
A gang of about nine dacoits broke into the house of Pappu Biswas, a fish and bidi distributor, with an iron rod and entered the premises. At knifepoint, the dacoits decamped with property worth Rs 24 lakh from the house.
Within 24 hours of the complaint, Porvorim police cracked the case and arrested six accused: Joycee alias Priya D’Souza, Kalpana Barki, Imran Sheikh, Subhash Kumar, Dheeraj Gupta and Ibran Shah.
On receiving information that his accomplices had been arrested in connection with the case, Mithilesh Yadav fled to Bangalore and was staying in a rented room.
During interrogation of the other accused, Porvorim police traced the whereabouts of Mithilesh Yadav and arrested him with the help of the Bangalore police.
Two other accused are still absconding from the police.
A team led by PSI Arun Shirodkar carried out the operation under the guidance of Porvorim Police Inspector Rahul Parab and the supervision of DySP Vishwesh Karpe and SP (North) Akshat Kaushal.
