Burglars broke into eight shops in Bicholim in the wee hours of Wednesday and stole cash of about Rs 5 lakh and a laptop.
All the shop owners later filed their complaints at the Bicholim police station.
Advocate Nilesh Vernekar said burglars decamped with cash of Rs 4 lakh from his shop, while cash of about Rs 1 lakh was stolen from six other shops and a laptop was stolen from one shop.
Bicholim police said the modus operandi was similar in all eight shops. Fingerprint experts and a police dog squad were pressed into service but they could not make much progress into the burglaries.
Voicing concern over the burglaries, Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye has demanded great police patrolling at night.
Police said one person can be seen on CCTV footage and are further investigating the matter.
