90.64% clear HSSC exams; pass rate rises by 5.64% from last year

Commerce tops with 93.31 pc; Sanguem leads among talukas; girls outshine boys; SSC results by April 15

An overall 90.64 per cent of students have been declared successful at the HSSC board exams, with 16,030 of the 17,686 students passing the exams conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in the State in February.

The overall success this year was 5.64 per cent better than the HSSC results in 2024, stated Goa Board Chairman Bhagirath Shetye while announcing the results on Thursday.

Shetye said the girls outshone the boys yet again this year. While 8,525 of the 9,224 girls passed (92.42 per cent), the pass percentage for the boys was 88.69 per cent with 7,505 of the 8,462 passing their exams.

Comparing the performance of the different streams, Shetye informed that students from the commerce stream performed exceptionally well this year also, with 4,745 of the 5,085 students passing the exams (93.31 per cent).

The science stream registered a passing percentage of 91.32, with 5,558 of the 6,086 clearing the board exam.

In the arts stream, 3,703 of the 4,068 students were declared successful, recording a passing percentage of 91.03.

The vocation stream recorded an 82.71 per cent success, with 2,024 of the 2,447 students passing the exam.

The pass percentage for children with special needs stood at 83.84.

Shetye said the 3,066 students availed of sports merit marks, while 126 students have passed the exam with the help of sports merit marks.

While comparing the results across talukas, the Goa Board chairman said Sanguem Taluka registered highest success (95.92 per cent), while Sattari taluka registered the lowest passing percentage of 81.22.

Shetye mentioned that the tentative date for supplementary examination for Std 12 will be on April 21, while the tentative date for the next annual HSSC exam is February 10, 2026.

He also informed that the SSC results of the Goa Board will be declared by April 15.

The portal for the verification of marks will be open from April 1. The fees for the verified photocopy of the answer book is Rs 350 per subject and the fees for the revaluation of answer book is Rs 700 per subject. Verification of marks in absentia is Rs 100 per subject.
