In yet another case of landlord-tenant dispute, a 95-year-old woman from Navelim made a plea to the South Goa Disaster Management Authority to ensure that her tenanted house does not collapse in the rains.
The woman fears that the structure may come down since a portion of the house, which was given on rent to another party, has almost collapsed.
The woman’s daughter claimed that her mother has been staying in the house for around 57 years, adding that the landlord has not bothered to repair the house during the period.
Taking up cudgels for the beleaguered woman, Congress leader Savio Coutinho has demanded that the Disaster Management Authority intervene to ensure that the house does not collapse in the rains. “Let us wait and see what decision the Disaster Management authorities take,” he said.
Several landlord-tenant disputes have come to the fore during the ongoing rains with many houses crumbling for want of repairs.
